Using a 3G Modem to connect to the Internet
All major cellphone networks within Europe now support '3G data'; this uses the latest 3G networks for high-speed data connections to the internet.
All of the networks provide USB 3G modems; these are typically available 'free' on most monthly data contracts, or to buy on PAYG ('Pay as You Go') packages. The 3G USB modem connects directly into a DrayTek router/firewall and provides shared Internet connectivity to all PCs and other devices on your network. Using 3G for ADSL/Broadband Backup (Failover)
As well as letting you use 3G as your primary/only method of connection to the Internet, the DrayTek Vigor routers can also connect to ADSL and automatically switch to 3G only in the event of ADSL failure. Click HERE for more information.

3G USB Dongles
	11 March 2009 : the ZTE MF622 and Huawei E160 & E156 USB dongles are available from 3. For a monthly contract YOU MUST SPECIFICALLY ASK FOR EITHER THE ZTE MF622 or the Huawei E160 or you will be given the ZTE MF627 by default, which is NOT currently certified for use with Draytek routers. For PAYG the Huawei E156 is supplied by default.
	11 March 2009 : the Huawei E160 USB dongle is available from Orange.
	11 March 2009 : the Huawei K3520 USB dongle is available from Vodafone. The K3520 is called the "USB Modem Stick" by Vodafone and is NOT the "USB Modem Stick - Pro"
	11 March 2009 : none of the currently supplied USB dongles available from T-Mobile or O2 are certified for use with Draytek routers.
Older USB 3G dongles	If you can find it, the Huawei E220 will work with Vodafone, 3 and T-Mobile.

Using a 3G Modem to connect to the Internet

All major cellphone networks within Europe now support '3G data'; this uses the latest 3G networks for high-speed data connections to the internet in addition to regular phone calls. The latest 'HSDPA' version provides speeds up to 7.2Mb/s* download, which is comparable with fixed broadband lines but with added flaxibility, mobility and convenience.

All of the networks provide USB 3G modems; these are typically available 'free' on most monthly data contracts, or to buy on PAYG ('Pay as You Go') packages. In addition, many 3G phone handsets also have a 'modem' facility with a USB cable which is compatible with the DrayTek routers. Check with your chosen network provider for their exact offerings. The 3G USB modem connects directly into a DrayTek router/firewall and provides shared Internet connectivity to all PCs and other devices on your network, including wireless laptops (assuming you select DrayTek product with WiFi).
